Cover Creighton’s D-I athletic teams, write features, blogs or your own column. Our weekly paper is online covering campus news as it happens. Best of all, you can join the staff as a freshman. Have a blast while you do great journalism. Look us up.
Spend three weeks during summer shooting video of life in the Alaskan tundra or telling the stories of child soldiers in Uganda. JM&C and Theology team up to guide students in telling inspiring stories of marginalized people in remote locations through our award-winning Backpack Journalism Program.
Warning: Backpack Journalism can change your life. Avoid if you fear challenge and adventure.
JM&C students have an incredible array of internships to explore whether in news, public relations, social media, advertising, design, web, video or computer science. The options range from news organizations to Fortune 500 companies to startups to nonprofits. Students take advantage of these opportunities over the summer and during the school year. Most JMC students have multiple internships by the time they graduate. Many internships are paid and students can receive academic credit.
The experience from internships builds on what students learn in the classroom. The experience helps build your portfolio and helps you land that job after graduation. Internships also help students narrow their interests or broaden their interests to possibilities they hadn’t considered.
Internship opportunities are posted on the department’s listserv. Many internships come from the active network of JM&C alumni both in Omaha and around the country. Creighton’s John P. Fahey Career Center also helps students find internships both in Omaha and elsewhere.
